Alex was born and raised in the East Bay. Born in Fremont and raised in Pleasanton. Both of his parents played a major influence in his playing career and his love of baseball came from his father, MLB Coach Bruce Hines, and his favorite coach, the late Frank Knox of the Tri-Valley Babe Ruth Royals. He lived and played most of his baseball career in the Bay Area.

Playing experience:

Alex played baseball for fun as a kid in little league. He turned over a new leaf and pursued baseball as a passion, developing his work ethic after his nine-year old season because he “cried after watching his friends practicing on the all-star team after finding out he didn’t make the team.”  Playing for the Pleasanton American and Tri-Valley Babe Ruth All Stars from ages 10-15. He played all four years of baseball at Amador Valley, two years on varsity. In 2010, AVHS was voted #9 in the nation and #1 in the state after going 25-3 and winning NCS and EBAL decisively, beating Foothill in the NCS final 12-1.. During his highschool years, he played for Don Johns and the Danville Hoots. He spent time working at TPC with Coach Kevin Kim as a little leaguer and high school player.

During his time playing in the East Bay, Alex was fortunate to train and play with the likes of dozens of collegiate and professional baseball players like: Stephen Piscotty, Chris Keck, Daniel Jackson, TJ Friedl, Will Anderson, Michael Theofanopoulus, Joey Moroney, Evan Brisentine, Joe Navilhon, Mark Appel, Shawn Dunston Jr. and more.

After graduating in 2011, Alex suffered numerous injuries and off-field issues that kept him from playing from 2012-2014. After earning a scholarship to Vincennes University where he broke out, stayed healthy,  and earned his Associate’s in Kinesiology, he was awarded a scholarship to four-year Eastern New Mexico Univ. He suffered yet another injury which cost him the season and then suffered the loss of his mother, bringing him closer to family, he transferred to West Liberty University where he finished his collegiate career.

After finishing his season, he spent a summer in Kent, WA studying and training with Driveline Baseball, a giant in the performance industry. During his time there, he developed into a professional baseball player, received an invite to the Palm Springs Winter League where he played well enough to sign a contract with the United Shores Professional Baseball League. This is where he met Tony Dress and was training at TPC for his spring training with the USPBL. He chose to retire from baseball and had necessary surgery for an injury. He now pursues coaching and competing in martial arts.
